Amb. Franciso del Rosario

Ambassador Franciso del Rosario has bee n serving the Philippine government in various capacity since 1990. He was Philippine Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany (June 1993 to June 1996), Philippine Consul General to Southampton, United Kingdom (March 1992 to June 1993), Co-chair, Philippine Trade Mission to Eastern Europe (September 1991), Undersecretary, International Trade Grou p, Department of Trade and Industry (April 1990 to June 1991), and Commissioner, Philippine Trade Commission to Europe, Department of Trade and Industry (August 1988 to March 1990).

His leadership did not go unnoticed. In 1961, he was named TOYM Awardee for Business and Civic Leadership. He has also received numerous recognition for his achievements in civic, professional and social organizations. These include the Businessman of the Year in 1962, Outstanding Alumnus given by the College of Commerce Alumni Foundation, Inc. (COCAFI) in 1966, the Outstanding Rotarian of the Year in 1970, 1973, 1976 and 1987, and the Outstanding Jaycee in 1959.

Despite del Rosario's achievements, he has remained humble and simple. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in 1948 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Accounting, Magna cum Laude. In 1949, he passed the CPA Board Examinations. He took special courses in Management at the Harvard University in the 1960s. He finished an Air Transport Course at The Polytechnic of Central London, United Kingdom in 1984, and took the Dale Carnegie Instructors' Training Course in Hong Kong in 1986.

Currently, he is chair and president of Francisco V. del Rosario Holdings, Inc., F.V. del Rosario and Associates, Inc., Mondial Tours and Travel Corporation and Overseas Filipinos Duty Free Sales Phils.,Inc. He is the Senior Advisor for International Affairs - Europe of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Despite the time spent on his businesses, and the sense of achievement he derives from managing them, nothing compares to the fulfillment that he expe-riences from being chair of the Habitat project of the Rotary Club of Manila which aims at building 180 houses for homeless families.

Getting involved with organizations or projects is second nature to the Ambassador. Even at his age now, he still actively participates in the alumni organizations of his alma mater, of the University of Santo Tomas and the De La Salle University. This Thorn as ian, who now shuttles between the United Kingdom and the Philippines, was born on January 29, 1927.
