Ananias C. Diokno, M.D.

Ananias C. Diokno finished Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in 1965. He completed his urology residency at the University of Michigan in 1970 under the tutelage of the world renowned urologist, Jack Lapides. He then pursued a fellowship in Neuro-urology and urodynamics at the University of Michigan in 1971 and later on joined its faculty at the Department of Surgery, Section of Urology.

In 1984, Diokno was appointed Chairman of the Urology Department at the William Beaumont Hospital, a post he continues to hold to the present. He was also named as the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the William Beaumont Hospitals in Royal Oak and Troy, Michigan where is responsible for the administration of over 2,400 physicians in two hospitals and 700 physicians in the newly acquired Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

As a medical researcher and expert, Diokno has served as consultant to several medical journals including the Journal of the American Medical Society and the Journal of Urology. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Section of International Urology of the International Urology and Nephrology Journal. To date, Diokno has published 171 papers and 35 chapters. He had also become president of various associations including the Michigan Urologic Society from 1981 to 1983, the Philippine-American Urologic Society from 1983 to 1984, and the Geriartic Urologic Society from 2005 to 2007.

Diokno has received several awards including the TOP DOCS of Michigan, Top Physician America, and BEST Doctors in America. In 2000, he was recognized as the Urologist of the Year by the National Association for Continence in America.
