Imelda Virginia G. Villar, Ph.D.

The expertise of Imelda Virginia G. Villar, Ph.D. has driven her to provide lectures, seminars, and workshops for various sectors of the society on anger management, burnout management, career planning, dream analysis, cyberaddiction, and counseling among others.

Villar's career began at the St. Scholastica's College where she was appointed as its Guidance Director, a post she held from 1973 to 1989. She was also the Chair of its Psychology Department in between years from 1990 to 2007. Villar also served as its Dean of Arts and Sciences from 1989 to 1995. A recognized force in the professional circle, she was founding member of the Association for Wellness and Integration in Families and Individuals in 2004, and the Philippine Association for Counselor Education Research and Supervision and the Association of Psychological Educational Counselors of Asia-Pacific in 1976. She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas in 1981.

Among the recognitions she has earned are the Pax Award-the highest distinction given by the St. Scholastica's College, the Association of Southeast Asian Institute for Higher Learning Fellowship in 2002, several professorial chairs from 1996 to 2004, French Government Scholarship in 1991, The Outstanding Women in the Nation's Service in 1989, and the Fulbright-Hays Scholarship.
