Justice Jaime M. Lantin

Justice Jaime M. Lantin had been a public servant for 45 years, covering the period of 1956 to 2001. He started as a Legal Aide in Office of the Solicitor General where he later on became an Assistant Solicitor General. He joined the Judiciary where he became a Judge of the Court of First Instance (now Regional Trial Court) in Guimba, Nueva Ecija in 1974 and Branch 17 in Quezon City in 1976. Justice Lantin then became a Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 87 in Quezon City in 1983. Soaring to greater heights, he became an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals, Manila and Chairman of the 6th Division from 1986 to 1997.

As a magistrate, he embodied competence, integrity, and independence. Justice Lantin is recognized for his brilliant mind and expertise on various topics, among them, evidence, civil service, decision writing, pre-trial, and judicial conduct. His extensive legal knowledge propelled him to taking on the role of a Bar Examiner in Remedial law in 1996.

Lantin had also served his alma mater when he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Civil Law, a post he held from 2001 to 2006. He was also a faculty member of the University in the College of Science from 1950 to 1967. He has also been teaching at the Faculty of Civil Law since 1974.
