Maestra Stella Goldenberg-Brimo

Maestra Stella Goldenberg-Brimo trained extensively under Edward Steuermann and Sascha Gorodnitsky in New York, Rosa Schmidt in Munich, and Richard Hauser in Vienna. She obtained her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Santo Tomas after earning a Teacher's Certificate and an Artist's Diploma from one of pre-war Manila's premiere institutions of musical learning, the Academy of Music. Her durable performing career was highlighted with dozens of appearances with the Manila Symphony Orchestra under conductors, Lippay, Herbert Zipper, William Strickland, Ludwig Kaufmann, Bernardino F. Custodio and Oscar C. Yatco. She was also featured as soloist of symphony orchestras in Korea and in Taiwan.

Maestra Brimo was Dean of the Conservatory of Music of the University of Santo Tomas from 1971 to 1980 where she also served as a member of its Faculty from 1948 to 1988. She also taught at the Conservatory in St. Paul College of Manila from 1951 to 1971. In 1988, before her departure for Canada, the University of Santo Tomas conferred upon her the title of "Dean Emeritus" of the Conservatory of Music. Maestra Brimo's multi-generation productrs are now found worldwide. Her influence is also felt through the work of some of the country's outstanding string instrumentalists.
