Carmen G. Kanapi, PhD.

p>CARMEN G. KANAPI, PhD., is one of the more popular personages in Philippine Academia. She was the first geneticist in the country to have earned her PhD. in Zoology major in Genetics from the University of Texas in Austin and pre-doctoral studies in Human Genetics at the John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Probably one of the highlights of Dr. Kanapi's career at UST was her six-year Deanship at the UST Graduate School.


Chairman Rosario N. Lopez

A loyal daughter of this 389-year-old University, Ms. Rosario Lopez began her Thomasian training as early as the secondary level. She later took her Associate in Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees at the same institution. She continued her academic pursuits in Spain, taking up Master of Arts in Spanish and Doctors of Laws at the Instituto Cultura Hispanica and Universidad de Madrid, respectively.


Concepcion F. Blaylock, Ph.D.

Dr. Blaylock is the Chairman of the Board of Diamond Motor Corporation (DMC), Zanzibar Hotel Management Services Corporation and CFB Farm. Under her leadership DMC expanded its dealership operation and became the number one dealer of Mitsubishi cars and truck in Metro Manila.

For her active participation in various business enterprises, she was cited as one of the Twelve Outstanding Women in 1979 for excellence in entrepreneurship by the Philippine Council of Management. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce from the University of Santo Tomas.


Consuelo Madrigal Collantes

Ms. Consuelo Madrigal Collantes graduated summa cum laude in 1940 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Santo Tomas. She is likewise a graduate of Bachelor of Arts at Rosemont College in Pennsylvania in 1942. Therefater, she moved to Washington D.C. and enrolled at the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University where she graduated in 1946. She graduated with top honors and was admitted as a Qualified Attorney and Counselor at the U.S. Court of Appeals and Supreme Court in 1946.


Dean Amado L. Dimayuga

An accomplished and distinguished law practitioner since 1952 and senior partner of Dimayuga Law Offices, Dean Amado L. Dimayuga studied law and obtained his Bachelor of Laws, magna cum laude, from the Faculty of Civil Law of UST. He also has a Doctorate of Civil Law, Sobresaliente, from the Universidad Central de Madrid.


Dean Conchita Torres-Maceda

DEAN CONCHITA TORRES-MACEDA, for 19 years, has steered the Uni¬versity of Santo Tomas College of Nursing towards greater heights, making the College a center for excellence in the field of nursing, a recognition granted by the Commission on Higher Education.


Dr. Angeles Tan-Alora

Dr. Alora, chosen as one of the Outstanding Teachers of 1992 by the Metro Bank Foundation, graduated cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and later pursued further studies in Tropical and Infectious Diseases as her clinical specialty.


Dr. Carmencita N. Reodica

DR. CARMENCITA N. REODICA, the current Secretary of Health, completed the degree of Doctor of Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in 1962. In 1978, she became a fellow of the Economic Development Institute, WB-IMF and obtained her M.A. in Public Health from the UP College of Public Health. She also finished CESO II at the Career Executive Service in 1985.


Dr. Florentino Hornedo

In the Philippine educational circle, the name Dr. Florentino Hornedo is synonymous with philosophy and culture; and when it comes to Ivatan culture, he is considered to be one of the ountry's authorities. He is a much sought-after speaker and ecturer, not only because of his intensity as a speaker but also because of his scholarly presentation of his topics.


Dr. Gilberto L. Gamez

Dr. Gilberto L. Gamez graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the College of Liberal Arts, and with the degree of Doctor of Medicine, cum laude, from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Santo Tomas. After completing his residency in Medicine at the UST Hospital, he underwent specialty training in Psychiatry at the Universidad Central de Madrid and residency specialty training in Neurology at the Neurological Institute of New York, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
