Dr. Jacinto Bautista

An ophthalmologist who has an eye for community service, Dr. Jacinto Bautista has spent his medical career campaigning against curable blindness. He has been lauded by local and international groups for his project "Pagkalinga sa Mata", a program launched in 1998 in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM).

Through this project, Dr. Bautista and a team of volunteer ophthalmologists continually provides free consultation and treatment of eye diseases to indigent patients of Metro Manila and nearby provinces.


Dr. Ma. Luisa Pimentel Ejercito

The First Lady of the Philippines, Dr. Ma. Luisa Pimentel Ejercito, is a graduate of the College of Liberal Arts (Associate in Arts - Pre-Medicine) and of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (Doctor of Medicine) of the University of Santo Tomas.

Her field of specialization in Medicine is Psychiatry and trained in that specialty at the Royal Park Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, under the renown Dr. John Cade and Dr. Cunningham Dax.

She practised Psychiatry at the National Center for Mental Health (formerly the National Mental Hospital).


Dr. Manolo Gabriel

When boys his age were tinkering with toy cars and dismantling their toy robots, he was taking lessons in taekwondo. He was five years old. His passion for the sport did not diminish as he grew older, but instead, it got the better of him: he earned a blackbelt degree at age 22, became a national taekwondo instructor eventually becoming a tournament director and finally, the coach of the Philippine Team in 1990.


Dr. Miguel Noche

As faculty member and chair of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery's (FMS) Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Miguel Noche introduced an organized management scheme which was integrated in the Faculty's curriculum.

Moved by the need to develop local allergy specialists in pediatrics, he initiated a consortium between UST and the Section of Allergy of the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Medical Center. The program adapted by this consortium aimed at honing pediatric allergists in various medical academic institutions and regions of the country.


Dr. Rene Arcilla

Dr. Rene A. Arcilla is a complete physician, a Catholic gentlemen and an exemplary model Thomasian.

He has excelled in the field of Pediatric Cardiology which won him international recognition as a researcher, author and academician on established researches in the field of pediatric-cardiology. He is a co-author of a respected textbook in pediatric cardiology used extensively by medical students and practitioners and is a well-sought lecturer among medical circles in the United States, Asia and Europe.


Dr. Reynaldo M. Javate

An acknowledged researcher and inventor, Dr. Reynaldo M. Javate finished his Bachelor of Science in General and Doctor of Medicine in the University of Santo Tomas. His internship and residency encompassed various hospitals such as the former Santo Tomas University Hospital and the University of the Philippines in Manila where he took up a Basic Course in Ophthalmology. At present, he is a board examiner in the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology.


Dr. Teresita U. Quirino

Dr. Teresita Uy-Quirino is one of the country's most established women of pedagogy, actively engaging in undertakings that promote the development of technological education. She has also been committed to social growth as manifested by her dedication to civic and humanitarian activities.


Dr. Washington Sycip

Washington Sycip is the founder and chairman of the SGV Group of auditors and management consultants, with member firms in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thai¬land, Taiwan, Korea, Hongdong, Brunei, Sri Lanka and Saudia Arabia.
Sycip obtained his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, summa cum laude, and his Master of Science in Commerce, meritissimus, at the University of Santo Tomas. At Colombia University in New York, he was admitted to the Beta Gamma Sigma, Honorary Business Society.


Dulce Estrella-Gust, M.D.

Dr. Gust is the Executive Director of the Occupational Safety & Health Center, a specialized attached agency of the Department of Labor & Employment. She served as adviser and/or consultant to various projects on health and safety aspects of child labor and agriculture, on drug abuse prevention, on school health and safety, on AIDS and alternative lifestyle to commercial sex work etc. These activities were supported by International Organizations here and abroad. Dr. Gust obtained her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1967.



Egidio Pecaoco Elio, M.D.

Dr. Egidio Elio, an eminent Urologist, is in the forefront of long-term programs that promote the equitable distribution of specialty services in the country and sustained delivery of medical and surgical care for the indigent patients in depressed rural communities.
