Dr. Jacinto Bautista

An ophthalmologist who has an eye for community service, Dr. Jacinto Bautista has spent his medical career campaigning against curable blindness. He has been lauded by local and international groups for his project "Pagkalinga sa Mata", a program launched in 1998 in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM).

His brainchild, through Rotarian funding, has presented statistics that show a good number of beneficiaries, mostly cataract pa¬tients in remote and depressed areas in the Philippines.

He was former chair of the Santo Tomas University Hospital Eye Center and recipient of the RCM International Award for Missions of International Services, which was awarded in Taipei, Taiwan in 1998.
