Sr. Mother Mary Aurora Marasigan

Born in Manila in 1923, Mother Mary Aurora Marasigan studied at the University of Santo Tomas for both her degrees on Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Master of Science in Chemistry. She entered the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters immediately after finishing her higher studies and after eighteen years in the Convent of the Most Blessed Sacrament was called to the Motherhouse in Steyl, Holland.

She was then elected Superior General for ten years (1969-1979). In her first term as Mother Superior, she was able to establish three convents, two in the United States of America and one in the Philippines. Acknowledging her leadership prowess, she was re-elected for another eight years (1979-1987) during which she was able to establish four more convents. This time, two in the Philippines, one in India and another in Brazil.

At the end of her term in 1987, she found herself re-elected for the third time (1987-1995) as Superior General. This time she was able to establish the Convents of Divine Mercy and Divine Word in Tagaytay, Philippines and Nysa, Poland, respectively. Today, Mother Mary Aurora Marasigan is on her 4th term as Superior General and as in the past, has again established two more convents which can be found in Africa and Indonesia.

Mother Marasigan, granddaughter of another great Thomasian Marcelo H. del Pilar, realizes her desire and commitment to serve God and the Church unselfishly, she was given the Bukas Palad Award and the Papal Award "Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice".
